Hester Street Fair Opens May 7th!

5 May

The time is finally here when HESTER STREET FAIR opens their gates!!!

WHEN: Opening Day—Saturday, May 7, 2001 (10am-6pm). Hester Street Fair open ONLY SATURDAYS. FREE TO THE PUBLIC.
WHERE: The Hester Street Fair located on the corner of Hester and Essex Streets. F, J, M, Z stops to Delancey and East Broadway.
WHO: 60 food and goods vendors will be participating for opening day!

Join FancySexyMe, along with many other amazing vendors including Dealer’s Choice (my favorite vintage jewelry collectors), Luke’s Lobster, Macaron Parlour, Sigmund Pretzelshop, Brooklyn Taco Company and so many more!

Hester Street Fair is rich in history, being one of the most industrious markets in NYC at the turn of the century.

“There is hardly a square foot of ground in Hester Street that is not covered with people during the day. The whole place seems to be in a state of perpetual motion, and the occasional visitor is apt to have a feeling of giddiness.” NY Times, July 27, 1895.

Today, the market still embarks on this historical setting, continuing the market tradition, being host to local artisans including clothing, accessories, and food-AND it has become one of my favorite places for vintage finds.

The HSF team makes the experience memorable and worth-while. I brought my parents here last August, and they simply fell in love with the atmosphere. So stop on by this Saturday for a pre-Mother’s Day excursion!

See you there! 🙂

FancySexyMe’s favorite goto dining in Williamsburg

1 Mar

With our home base being Williamsburg, we are asked almost daily “where is there a good place to eat around here” as veterans of the Williamsburg dining scene here is a list of our fav places. The list is going to 5 long – there are many many great spots we haven’t tried or mentioned, but theses are goto spots – meaning when in doubt this is where we go…

5. Teddys Bar & Grill – http://www.teddyswilliamsburg.com

Bar/ American – 96 Berry Street

Great for Bruch, Lunch, & Dinner –  We usually go in for dinner. Great bar food/restaurant – has been around for hundred years and is often used for movies that need that oldie feel. The menu isn’t exotic but really good – hard to pick a bad dish – the mixed drinks are top notch.

4. Radegast Hall & Beirgarten – http://www.radegasthall.com

German Food / Beer / Sausages & Bratwurst – 113 North 3rd Street

The Beirgaten is amazing for any night of the week – gets really packed on the weekends.  This is a three for one deal here – Great place for obscure euro high alcohol beers and they have a great bar. Also good for date night or nice dining with their restaurant with German/Euro cuisine. Our favorite are the benches and grill – the best Sausages and Bratwurst around with great fries and my FAVORITE sauerkraut in the world.

3. Le Barricou – http://www.lebarricouny.com/

French Bistro & Wine Lounge – 533 Grand St

Le Barricou is absolutely the best brunch in Williamsburg. I’m sure its great for lounging and dinner but my goodness their brunch is sooooo good. Everything is good Cynthia’s always orders Eggs Norwegian with homemade bloody mary and swears it’s the best she has ever had. Personally always go for an omelet and wash it down with pineapple vodka but the many times we went with friends and fam – you cant got wrong here.

2.  Mesa Coyoacan – http://mesacoyoacan.com/

Gourmet Mexican Cuisine

Great for date night or with friends. Beautiful décor and by FAR the best Mexican food ever!!! Not your typical Mexican food with tacos and what not. My favorite is the Mixiotes De Carnero – no bare yourself this is whats in it – Spiced lamb with chile ancho, chile  guakillo and avocado leaves  STEAMED in a banana leaf and served with cactus salad, black beans, and pickled habanero red onions – Let me put it this way it tastes better then it sounds =p …. Highly recommended for anytime.

 1.Hachi Asian Bistro – http://www.yelp.com/biz/hachi-brooklyn

Thai / Asian Fusion / Sushi

With many Thai restaurants all over the hood both new and old, and believe me I’ve tried almost all of them. Hachi is the best by far. Amazing pricing, great food, and proper service.  Now in my opinion this is my favorite sushi place especially the spicy tuna roll. The décor is relaxing and they also deliver! Date night, lunch, or dinner this place is a slam dunk – anyone you bring will be impressed your pick!

There you have it – I’m sure you have your favs but any of this fine restaurants will be an easy fav for y’all as well. Till next time!

Cure to your snow day – snow, new pieces, & why you need to be out this w/end !!!

27 Jan

All I have to say is WTF!!!! most snow in January in NYC EVER!!! another significant accumulation and we set the all time record ever in a month!!!!!! –  Its like when you watched the weather on the 11 o clock news and shows records and its always 1911, 1895, or 1946 – etc – well when our kids and grands look at the weather 40 – 50 years from now and see the records – they will say “it must of been bat shit crazy back in 2011, a lot nicer now then that archaic time” .

Alright – got that out-of-the-way…. on to bidness – Cant expect everyone to come out this weekend to artists and fleas (www.artistsandfleas.com) at 70 north 7th st in Williamsburg Brooklyn from 12-8…. who will be hosting their Destination:Vintage – a pop-up vintage sales event – Scratch that – yes i can – so we have a little bit of a lot of snow – so what – throw a few snow balls – push a friend or stranger into a snow bank , it will just make you a better person & give a hearty laugh to one self on their way to coming and seeing some amazing new pieces Cynthia and I created.

As per the gallery below we have some really really nice jewelry for y’all – First piece is our elephant ring – purchased by one  Ben Feldman back in Christmas who plays Fred from Drop Dead Diva and Cloverfield (yeah i dont know him either) this super cute and lucky piece is one of our more heavier rings but definitely a must for your ring collection.

Next we have our newest two finger ring – our ROSES DOUBLE FINGER RING – beautifully constructed and designed by one Cynthia Catera – this organic piece we boldly predict will be one of our more popular pieces.

…and special shout to Shannon of ASTALI (www.Astali.com) we collaborated on the first TWO FINGER BULLET RING – came out back in November – totally one of a kind – carrying this clip of bullets would toughen up anyones look but also just a really cool ring to wear…
